International Inspirations

The Theme for International Women's Day 2020 - An Equal World is an Enabled World.  We need to be responsible all day, every day for our thoughts and actions.   We should choose to challenge stereotypes, broaden our minds, perceptions, improve situations, and most importantly, celebrate women's achievements.

Happy International Women's Day to all the wonderful ladies on a journey of self-love, growth and building each other up. This image with the International Flags was taken in Spain, reminding me of how vast our global connections around the world have become.  We share from our past experiences, our cultures, languages, cuisines, we cohabitate and try to become enriched whilst dreaming of a better future with each other.  We can learn so much from each other, especially if we are open-minded enough, respectful and willing to listen.

A Woman who inspired me?  Having recently spent time in Sicily, I'd like to reflect on the stories shared about my paternal Grandmother.  During the war, she risked her life by lighting fires before sunrise to make bread and feed those who were hungry.  She felt it was better to save someone from starvation than to do nothing but live in fear of being caught or killed.  I love that my Grandmother cared enough about her family and others, wanting to help as many as she could.

Internationally Today:  On this day in 2020, Northern Italy is locked-down. The current global health crisis has fears of the coronavirus spreading, as more locations and people become infected.  We can start by being vigilant and aware of our surroundings, taking the necessary precautions for our loved ones, without discriminating or fear-mongering.  We can all help each other, take care of and try to protect our elderly family members and neighbours.

Wash your hands with anti-bacterial hand wash.  I have added anti-bacterial and antiseptic Tea-Tree Essential Oil to ours to ensure that we have additional protection whilst cleaning up.  Try to eat healthier nutritious foods like minestrone and veggie-loaded soups, that are rich vitamins and minerals. Take a multi-vitamin to assist with boosting your body's immunity.  Avoid being in situations or locations where the virus could be caught and spread too, like swimming pools or events with hundreds of people.  Most of all, apply common sense - If it doesn't feel right, don't do it.

Should you have any concerns, feel free to read more or contact WHO Communications.   If your location has run out of Hand Sanitizers, you could make your own recipe from Popular Science, found on WHO Organisation webpage.  Though unless you're a hairdresser, not everyone will have Hydrogen Peroxide handy!  The ingredients required to make your own DIY Hand Sanitizer

  • 1 cup of 99% isopropyl alcohol
  • 1 tablespoon of 3% hydrogen peroxide
  • 1 teaspoon of 98% glycerin
  • ¼ cup, 1 tablespoon, and 1 teaspoon (or 85 milliliters) of sterile distilled or boiled cold water.
  • Note that these ingredients can be quite drying on your hands ... details about Homemade Hand Scrub and Products to rehydrate them are below.

TAKE CARE OF YOURSELVES

HANDS SCRUB & AFTERCARE

For hands that are super dried out, make your own Hands Scrub:

  • 2 tablespoons of raw sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of sea salt or Himalayan Pink Salts
  • 1 tablespoon Olive, Rapeseed or Sunflower Oil from your cooking cupboards!

Mix together and use a small portion to gently scrub against your hands, removing dead dried-out skin cells. Best to do this at the end of your washing up day to prevent excess removal of skin cells.

Aftercare for your hands to ensure your skin cells are rejuvenated and repaired whilst you sleep... And don't be afraid to wear cotton gloves or sox to keep the product concentrated on your hands if necessary:

For assisting your breathing, congestion and sinuses, see about the Adults Breathe Easy and Kids Breathe Easy Concentrate.  This gentle blend can be applied to the bath or onto the skin for inhalation, clearing passages and assisting with getting a decent night's sleep.

Check out the reviews and Testimonials of these products, to see how persistence with application to get the results you want is key to having great looking skin.
